Two of the nation’s leading experts on historic preservation issues have agreed to serve as keynote speakers for the upcoming two-day conference, the “Alexandria Historic Preservation Conference and Town Meeting,” scheduled for May 4 and 5 in Alexandria. White House historian and 25-year Alexandria resident William Seale and author Donovan Rypkema will speak during the luncheon.
The City is offering a new series of workshops that allow new and experienced writers to tour the City and write about each location's inspirational setting. Under the direction of a guest leader, participants will stroll through distinctive Alexandria neighborhoods, parks, and attractions and pause at selected areas to write. After each tour, participants will gather to voluntarily share their writing at a local coffee shop.
